KBR receives preparedness plan from Treadstone Consulting

Houston, Texas (July 06, 2011) – Treadstone Consulting has officially been added to KBR’s preferred vendor list after being awarded a one year contract for Houston Contingency SATCOM services.

Treadstone Consulting will be providing a TreadNet mobile communications trailer that KBR will station at its Clinton Dr. location in preparation for disaster events such as hurricanes, power outages, floods or tornados. This mobile unit will support KBR’s response personnel deployed to disaster zones, providing them with all communication needs. The contract also allows KBR access to 30 additional TreadNet mobile units, available anytime disaster events occur adding an additional layer of security to the company’s crisis communications plans.

“KBR’s Contingency Operations program provides a rapid response capability to assist federal agencies in disaster relief and recovery operations throughout the United States and its territories,” said Doug Horn, Vice President, Contingency Operations. “An integral component of this operational capability is having the capability to deploy contract support into disaster zones with organic communications which can operate independently of existing area communications systems which are often damaged or destroyed due to the disaster event.”

TreadNet, Treadstone’s VSAT solution, will connect KBR from wherever they are within a disaster stricken area to their home headquarters with a secure and reliable network connection. The service will provide continuous data and communications services such as wireless connections, internet, telephones, fax, and auto deploy.

Treadstone Consulting Selected as Marine Communications Provider for Geokinetics

HOUSTON, TEXAS – May 2nd, 2011 – Treadstone Consulting announced that they have been chosen to be the provider of marine communications for a leading seismic data provider, Geokinetics. Treadstone Consulting will be providing Geokinetics stabilized Marine VSAT Antenna’s for four vessels and a private network for the vessels. Treadstone will also support a land-based system to provide Disaster Recovery for the data processing center. Treadstone Consulting leveraged their, VSAT turn key connectivity offering, to provide a mobile remote connectivity solution linking an isolated seismic survey camp in the mountains of Utah to a leading worldwide geophysical company’s intranet based in Houston, TX.

The energy industry and its associated businesses seek creative ways to keep in contact with their people and equipment in the field where telephone and cellular infrastructure have not reached, and mobile VSAT units that provide a highly-available and secure solution.

Satellite communications systems can be tailored to deal with the demands of varied conditions of field operations. Bandwidths up to 2Mbps are available to transport data voice to fixed remote sites or mobile units.

Treadstone Consulting provided a RV trailer with accommodations for four with a 1.8M VSAT antenna mounted on a custom frame running a custom bandwidth allocation over VPN to a secure wireless network hosted in the trailer. The trailer also carried a generator and fuel for fully autonomous operation.

In a situation where other connectivity options are not feasible, VSAT offers two distinct advantages: less deployment time and easy manageability. A VSAT is a small fixed earth station, which provides a communication link required to setup a satellite-based communication network.
